Using Subtitles on Videos

Subtitles help make videos easier to follow by showing the spoken words as text. Not all videos offer subtitles, so availability can vary. If the option is shown in your player controls, you can enable and customize subtitles easily.

Note: Subtitles are only available for videos that include them. If you don’t see the option, subtitles are not offered for that video.

Subtitles on the Web

On a computer browser, subtitle controls are found in the bottom-right corner of the video player.

To turn on subtitles on the web:

  1. Hover over the video to show the playback controls.

  2. Click the subtitles button

  3. Choose a language (if available).

Note: Some videos may offer auto-generated subtitles, which are created by speech recognition and may not be perfect.

Subtitles on Mobile Apps

If subtitles are available for a video on mobile, the icon will appear in the top-right corner of the player controls.

To turn on subtitles on mobile:

  1. Tap the screen while the video is playing to show controls.

  2. Tap the subtitles icon (a box with lines).

  3. Choose your preferred language, if more than one is available.

Subtitles on TV Apps

Many TV apps also support subtitles, but the experience may vary depending on your TV and device.

To check for subtitles on TV:

  1. Start the video on your TV app.

  2. Look for a subtitles or captions icon in the playback options.

  3. Select your language, if offered.

Note: Subtitles on TV apps may appear in different places depending on your device brand or model.

Troubleshooting

  • Subtitles missing? If you don’t see a subtitles option, it likely means that subtitles are not available for that video.

  • Wrong language? Only the available languages for that specific video will appear in the menu.
